Growing up is not easy. As adults, we sometimes forget how many challenges youth face on a daily basis. Thankfully, there are organizations like Abbotsford Community Services (ACS) that provide youth with access to the education and resources they need to become strong, healthy and engaged members of the community.
Prospera Credit Union is committed to supporting those efforts through a range of community programs. As an active community partner, Prospera provides funding for a Youth Family Counseling program to assist families with youth who are at risk and do not have access to other counseling resources. They also put together home ‘starter kits’ for transitioning youth who are moving out on their own for the first time.
Employees get involved
The credit union’s employees are involved as well, volunteering for a number of programs that support ACS, including Best for Babies and United Way Day of Caring, (where employees help with chores and maintenance for group homes and other facilities in the community).
For three years now, Prospera’s Abbotsford branches have also hosted a special Angel Tree Program that shares the Christmas wishes of vulnerable youth aged 13-18 years. This program offers staff and members an opportunity to fulfill those wishes and demonstrate to youth that there are caring people in their community.
Every young person deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential
Every young person deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential; working together ACS and Prospera Credit Union are committed to doing their part to help youth on their way.
