The launch of an important new report - Opportunities in Transition: An Economic Analysis of Investing in Youth Aging out of Foster Care in their 20’s.
Fostering Change is excited to launch an important new report - Opportunities in Transition: An Economic Analysis of Investing in Youth Aging out of Foster Care in their 20’s.
This research is a first for BC. By collecting and analyzing existing public data and surveys, Marvin Shaffer (Consulting Economist and Adjunct Professor at the School of Public Policy at Simon Fraser University) and Lynell Anderson, CPA, CGA, do three things:
- Document what we know about outcomes for youth aging out of care compared to most young people
- Describe and provide estimates of the costs of these outcomes
- Identify measures that could improve outcomes and assess their costs in relation to the potential benefits they may generate.
At the launch, you will hear a presentation from Marvin and Lynell, commentary from guest speakers, and be invited to participate in an informal question and answer session.
The team at Fostering Change is very excited about this research, and committed to working with you to help use the findings in ways that benefit youth aging out of foster care.
Copies of the report will be available, and a light snack will be served. Please RSVP as seating is limited.
