The 4th Annual 19th Birthday Celebration "We All Turn 19" will be from 1-3pm Friday August 20th outdoors at the City Hall in Vancouver at the Helena Gutteridge Plaza (2675 Yukon St)
We know that when transitioning from government care to adulthood many youth miss out on this milestone birthday due to the current transition standards that do not afford them guaranteed stability, housing or safety. With loss of their social safety nets youth are not able to have the same luxury, time or energy to celebrate themselves, that's where we come in.
At Fostering Change, we host the annual 19th Birthday Celebration in honor of every youth has turned 19.
As a community that is youth-centered and focused on increasing transition supports for youth in/from care we hope to change public policy by bringing awareness to the issue so that no youth is without celebration or support when turning age of majority.
In person:
- We will have treats, small gift bags and food for all youth in/from care.
- If you attend as an ally there may be some for you as well!
- Please join us for group activities, designed and facilitated by the youth team.
Together will be toasting to the successes of all youth who have transitioned from care and are transitioning from care in the future.
Virtually: - We will be live streaming the event, those instructions will be updated here next week.
Youth who attend virtually must RVSP and provide email address to receive an Uber Eats gift card electronically to enjoy some nourishment while joining the celebration.
